Script-to-Screen

NSW's first public staged reading.

Script to Screen is a night of performing one writer's polished work for a public audience.
Join us for our first annual Script-to-Screen event!

Noho Screenwriter's Workshop is hosting its first public event - Script to Screen - two staged readings of Wade Wofford's original screenplay The Southerland School. Join us for an evening of cinema and culture, and see/discuss the first stage of making a film! This won't be "just another staged reading," but a truly unique cinematic event!

To make life easier for our friends on both sides of the bridge, we're having one reading in Northampton, and one in Amherst.

Two Performances:

  • Thursday, January 26, 6:30-9pm at the Media Education Foundation
60 Masonic St. in downtown Northampton near Packard's
    Map here
  • Friday, January 27, 7-9:30pm at the Amherst Media TV Studio
    246 College St. in Amherst
    Map here

Wine and light refreshments will be served at both readings. To reserve seats, email a ticket request with the number of tickets you want, and to which night/location.

Can't get a sitter?
No problem! Amherst TV will have a televised version of the event available on their channel (12 in Amherst) and streaming (if you're outside Amherst) on their website at some point in the near future (date TBD - check back soon for more info).

Story Overview
Twenty years ago, Dr. Ed Southerland founded his school upon the belief that the minds of the future were being stifled by mainstream parenting methods. If a child were removed from this atmosphere and raised in a completely controlled environment, evolution could leap forward. Tasha, the school's first student, is now a woman. Her mind, in a need to demystify the one thing she cannot comprehend, is inexplicably drawn to art; she has become a renowned art critic. But when she discovers an artist whose work she cannot deconstruct, she and Dr. Southerland are both forced to face their uncertainties about the infallibility of logic.
